For the few people who follow my blog. Just know that I'm okay.
Yes, I was in a car accident today. Thankfully, no one was seriously hurt. Just a few bumps and bruises. This does bring to the front though something else that dwells on my mind. It's a lesson that's usually reserved for people with addiction or mental problems, but is often ignored by the otherwise "normal" crowd.

Taking responsibility for your actions.
This is a hard one to accept. Mostly because it's been branded into our minds that you're not at fault unless it can be proven. Although it's an honorable trait, it's often taken advantage of. Not only do we use it to protect the innocent, but we use it to look for loopholes in the law, ways to avoid consequences, and blame others for our actions. This is a dangerous way to live because if you're not willing to accept consequences, you're also not willing to learn from your mistakes, thus, your life will most likely not improve. I could have been an ass and claimed "well if the guy in front of me hadn't slammed his brakes" or "it's the city of Houston's fault because they should have two lanes instead of one in such a high traffic area" or some other lame excuse.
The bare and simple truth is that I rear-ended someone because I failed to maintain a safe distance. I was involved in a three-car accident. I just happened to be the one at the end. The truth is mostly plain and simple. Rarely is it complex. You don't need excuses to live responsibly. You just need to do it. Be accountable for the good and bad that comes from the way you live. Correct the wrongdoings. Revel in the good that comes from responsible living. Wash, rinse, repeat. You'll sleep better at night. Promise.
Y'all be careful out there. In the meantime, I'm gonna go work on my driving abilities. Haha...
